Standard Wording for Advertisements:
We anticipate hiring at the assistant professor level. However, applications at other levels will be considered from those who would strengthen the Department's diversity.
Review of applications will begin on ___. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

International Candidates
If you will consider international candidates, the Office of International Student and Scholar Services recommends that in your ad, you include:
- A precise job title
- Mention of degree required and area of specialization. Possible language includes:
- Candidates ordinarily should have completed all requirements for the PhD by August 2005, though it is possible for candidates who have finished all but the dissertation to begin work while finishing the degree.
- ABDs will be hired at the instructor level until completion. PhDs will be hired at the Assistant Professor level.
- Candidates who have completed the PhD and those who are ABD may apply.
- Clear enumeration of job duties and job requirements or qualifications
- No closing date for applications
- Clear contact information
- Advertisement in at least one print media in an appropriate national professional journal. The Chronicle of Higher Education can be used if your national association no longer does print ads for recruitment purposes.
If you are willing to hire people who are ABD, you must state this in the ad. All ads must be exactly the same no matter what the media.
Prior to sending the advertisement to the Dean's office for review, you may wish to send your ad to Tina Tan (tant@colorado.edu) in the Office of International Student and Scholar Services for review.
