The First Year Prize: These prizes, funded by the PWR, are awarded to superlative student essays in four categories: analysis, argument, inquiry, and personal narratives or reflective essays.

The Upper Division Arts and Sciences Prize: Also sponsored by the Program for Writing and Rhetoric, this prize is awarded to superlative work written by students in WRTG 3020 classes and by non-engineering majors in WRTG 3030 classes. Its name honors Dr. Hardy Long Frank for her tireless devotion to the cause of strong student writing.

The Upper Division Creative Nonfiction Prize: Description coming soon.

The Mackison Prize: This prize, made possible by the generosity of Donald Mackison, is awarded annually to engineering students for work written in WRTG-3030 sections.

The Business Prize: Also funded by PWR, this prize honors the best work submitted from all sections of WRTG-3040.

The PWR thanks all of the above sponsors for their generosity, and for recognizing the power of a well-crafted essay.
