Program Requirements

In order to be eligible for the LGBT
Studies Certificate, students (undergraduate, graduate or former) must meet
the following General Program Requirements:
Any CU student with a C average
or better may be admitted to the program.
Completion of a major in any discipline
offered by the University of Colorado. Post-bachelor students must have earned
a degree from an accredited college or university.
24 hours of acceptable course work
(C or better) from the certificate program list, of which a minimum of 15 must
be upper division. A minimum of 12 hours of courses must come from outside the
student's major.
Required courses:
LGBT 2080: Introduction to LGBT Studies
English 2708: Introduction to LGBT Literature
Elective courses (18 hours, 15 of
which must be upper-division)
Up to six credit hours of independent
study may be applied toward the certificate program.
No pass/fail credits will count
toward the requirements of the program.
Credits earned at other institutions
may be transferred in partial fulfillment of the requirements upon approval
of the Program Director. No more than 12 hours (6 upper division) of transferred
course work may be applied to the Certificate.
Undergraduate certificates will
be awarded upon approval for graduation
Petitions to alter any of the above
requirements must be approved by the Program Director.
