The Department of Applied Mathematics is seeking to fill the full-time tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics to begin August 2010. The Department of Applied Mathematics strives to provide excellent teaching, research, and service to the university community and to the world in the application of mathematics to other disciplines. Areas of research expertise within the department include Analysis, Computational Mathematics, Dynamical Systems, Mathematical Biology, Nonlinear Phenomena, Physical Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Applied Probability. Job Responsibilities: The teaching load in the Department of Applied Mathematics is three courses per academic year. Faculty members are expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses. Equal weight is placed on research and teaching. Service (department, college, university, and professional) is also required of faculty.

Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics or related discipline is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference is given to candidates with outstanding research and teaching records and whose portfolio combines Applied Mathematics with Analysis, Computational Mathematics, Geosciences, or Mathematical Biology. However, outstanding candidates with research potential in any Applied Mathematics discipline will be considered. Post Ph.D. academic training is highly desired. Strong written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills are required.
