CERES: Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies

A central player in efforts to standardize corporate reporting on environmental performance, the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies believes that more and better corporate environmental performance information is essential for better corporate environmental management and improvement. Members voluntarily adhere to the CERES Principles, a set of practical, realistic paths toward corporate environmental responsibility. These principles focus on energy conservation, the sustainable use of natural resources, risk reduction, safe products and services, and other environmentally responsible actions. The CERES Report -- the first standardized format for environmental reporting crafted through the collaboration of industry, environmental groups, and investors -- is designed to lower pollution and improve management and stakeholder responsiveness at companies which complete it.
