Beyond duties of the dean of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Wick Rowland teaches and conducts research in the history, regulation, and policy of American broadcasting and telecommunications; in international, comparative broadcasting; and in the history of communications. His professional background is in public broadcasting, where he served as director of research and long-range planning for the Public Broadcasting Service in Washington, D.C. Dr. Rowland currently serves as chair of the Board of Directors of KBDI-TV, Channel 12 in Denver, and is a former president of the national association of schools of journalism and mass communication
