Professor Brakhage is a prolific film-maker with over sixty films made in his career. Some titles include Window Water Baby Moving (1959) and Dog Star Man (1964). The content of his films have been described anywhere from subjectively personal to strong socially conscious. His vision, represented though the media of film, has ranged from symbolic realism to abstract pure visual stimulation. Brakhage creates his powerful abstract films by painting and scratching onto the film itself, he then edits the rhythm and tempo of the film as a musician would compose a musical work. Brakhage teaches film studies courses at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
