Welcome To The USAS Website!

The USAS project was born from five undergraduate aerospace engineers attending Colorado University.  Some of the most notable requirements include...
  • Design, Build, and Fly the first successful RC aircraft for CU's senior projects.
  • Provide a stability augmentation system that artificially improves the stability of the aircraft.
  • Thoroughly document all design and fabrication processes so the scope could be expanded at a later time.

Current NEWS

The USAS project won CU's 2004 Design Expo for the best AeropaceProject.
The test-bed aircraft had it's first successful flight test on April 12, 2004. This began the intensive testing phase of the stability augementation system. The aircraft was heavily loaded and performed like a 747 but all systems including the moveable cg are functional.
The technology demonstration aircraft that we began building this summer was finally flown successfully on Nov 16, 2003!  It handled great!  See the photos page to get a glimpse of her in flight.
