John has always had his "head in the clouds." For as long as anyone can remember, all he has talked about is planes, rockets and outer space. Although not able to fly as much as he would like, John has logged time in seven different aircraft types, including 7 hours in the F-16C. He feels lucky to be a senior in Aerospace Engineering, where he can pursue the technical aspects of his interests. John fully intends to use all of his education and experience by becoming a commercial astronaut, his lifelong goal.

Between three part-time jobs, a full academic load and duties to the team as Lead Engineer, John has no trouble keeping busy. Currently, he works for General Dynamics in Space & Surveillance Special Programs, the Space Science Institute in Information Systems as well as helping out at the family business on Saturdays. When not being an aerospace geek, John enjoys painting, mountain climbing and the Martial Arts.

As the Lead Engineer, John’s responsibilities include the overall vehicle design, overseeing the construction and systems integration as well as acting as liaison between the University and General Dynamics.
