Drigung Til

Located 130 km NE of Lhasa, the monastery was founded in the 12th century and contained some 300 monks in 1959. Badly damaged during the Cultural Revolution, several buildings have been rebuilt and now it is the home of more than 100 monks.  A 45-minute circumambulation path leads to the well-known sky burial site on the far western end of the ridge. Stupas, shrines and prayer flags surround the boulders of the burial site.
