Cherkip is the smallest of the eight monasteries around the lake. Once consecrated to Guru Rimpoche, the monastery is now in ruins. The ruins are near the shore along the edge of the mouth of a dry stream. In some hills near the location of this monastery are some disused south facing meditation caves.
