To Boulder from Denver International Airport: Supershuttle has a desk in the main terminal and provides van transportation directly to hotels. Advance reservations recommended. RTD (Regional Transportation District) buses provide direct service to Boulder and have stops close to some of the hotels. The bus from the airport stops at Broadway and Euclid, one block from the University Memorial Center (UMC) the main conference site. The AB line runs from the airport to Boulder with the last bus leaving DIA at 11:25 pm (this time might change when construction is done at DIA). The first bus in the morning leaves DIA at 6:20 am. Buses to the airport from Boulder start running at 3:15 am (arriving at DIA at 4:20 am). The fare is $13 for the bus from DIA to Boulder, exact change required.
If you rent a car, take Pena Boulevard to Interstate 70, go west on Interstate 70 and then merge on Interstate 270. Interstate 270 becomes Colorado 36 (the Denver-Boulder Turnpike), which brings you into Boulder on 28th Street. The drive from DIA to Boulder is about an hour. There is also a toll road (E-470) to Boulder that you cross on Pena Boulevard; if you plan to use the toll road make sure you understand what your car rental company charges. The toll road is only a real advantage during rush hours.
Local transportation once at the meeting: The hotels are a roughly 20 minute walk from the conference venue. The hotels on 28th Street (Millenium, Outlook, Best Western) are not well served by public transportation, but there is excellent access to public transportation from the conference venue. Consult the RTD (Regional Transportation District) website for local bus routes and times. RTD provides service to Denver, Longmont and Nederland as well as local routes within Boulder. Local bus fare is $2.25 and regional service (Denver, Longmont, Nederland) is $5.00, exact change required.
Bicycles: The b-cycles program offers short-term bicycle rentals. You can sign up for the week of the conference and then pay a small hourly fee for when you actually use a bicycle.
Taxis: Yellow Cab serves Boulder, 303-777-7777.
Parking: The Euclid car park on campus is located next to the University Memorial Center (UMC) the main conference site. The fee is $1.75/hr for first 3 hours, $3/hr after that. For those staying on-campus, parking permits are available for purchase ($23.50/week) at the Sewall Hall front desk.
There is two hour parking on The Hill near the restaurants (West of campus), but if you plan on parking all day, you can parallel park on University Avenue (West of Broadway, only) without paying. You may need to drive on University as far as 8th Avenue to find a spot, but also scan the side streets off of University for street parking. Look carefully for signage to make sure you're not on a block with a two hour restriction.
Also, parking my be available just to the North of Boulder Creek, near 19th Street and Athens Street, on the South side of Arapahoe Ave. The walk from this area crosses Boulder Creek, which is nice, but beware that there is a stairway climb up to campus.
Both walks are about 12-17 minutes from the UMC.
